What is the dress code for Yucca Elementary?

We expect our students to dress in a way that shows respect for themselves, for others, and for their school. All students should come to school well groomed. Students may not wear any clothing that distracts from the learning experience. Specifically, we do not allow:

  • Sagging clothing
  • Tank tops, spaghetti straps, and muscle shirts used as outerwear
  • Clothing that promotes drug or gang-related activity
  • Clothing with inappropriate pictures or profane wording

We reserve the right to determine whether a student’s clothing is appropriate for school. For more details regarding our dress code, please review our district policy manual found on the district Governing Board page.

What will happen if my child becomes ill while at school?

If a student becomes ill, we will attempt to notify a parent or guardian promptly, and we will care for the student at our nurse’s station until a parent or guardian arrives. Students may not leave school grounds without either a parent or another approved adult (as listed on the student’s information form). If the situation is a medical emergency, we will follow standard emergency procedures. Please check with our front office to make sure your contact information and any student medical information is current.

Can I visit my child during lunch?

Of course! We encourage you to come to the school to observe your child’s classroom, volunteer, and eat lunch with him or her. For student safety, we require all visitors to report to the front office before proceeding to a classroom or the bistro. If you would like to join your child for lunch, please let us know by 9:00 a.m. so we can prepare enough food. Adult lunches cost $3.75 and our lunch schedule is as follows:

1st and 2nd Grade 11:10 - 11:50 a.m.
3rd and 4th Grade 11:25 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.
5th Grade       11:30 a.m. - 12:10 p.m.

What is the drop-off/pick-up procedure at Yucca?

Buses utilize our parking lot to pick up and drop off student riders. For everyone’s safety, we ask all parents who are picking up or dropping off their children to use the city parking lot across the street from the school. We will escort your children safely across the street.
